Work From Home Officially Ends At TCS: 5 Lakh Employees Now Working From Office

Tata Consultancy Services has now announced that all the employees should return to their workplaces starting from November 15, Monday.

The company has already issued a statement and the employees have been asked to return to the deputed branches.

TCS Employees Have Started Working From Offices By November 15

The company is moving towards its 25 by 25 vision in which only 25% of the workforce will work out of its facilities at any time. In its statement, it said that it will initially ask its associates to return to offices towards the end of CY’21.

It will eventually switch to the 25/25 model “in a phased and flexible manner”. The transition will “depend on respective team leaders and the requirements of each team/ project.”

The company has asked its employees to return to the deputed branches by November 15. As of last week, only 5 percent of the company’s workforce has been working from their workplaces.

TCS executive vice president and global head of human resources Milind Lakkad has announced the new development to the employees.

70 percent of the employees of TCS have been fully vaccinated and around 95 percent have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, which also contributes to the company’s decision of asking employees to return to their workplaces.

The company has a total workforce of 5,28,748 people, including India and worldwide.

Infosys, Wipro, And HCL Follow Suit?

We recently reported that industry peers Infosys, Wipro, and HCL Technologies are also gearing up to bring back their employees. Infosys announced during its quarterly earnings call that it will follow a hybrid model going forward.

It is suitable for its employees since it offers a flexible location arrangement as per their convenience. For example, employees can work three days from the office, and the rest of it from home.

Rishad Premji, chairman of Wipro tweeted on September 12 that its leaders are rejoining offices and will be coming in twice a week.

Senior employees of HCL Technologies have resumed working from the office at least twice a week. Chief HR Officer Apparao VV said that they expect the “momentum to increase by the end of this calendar year”.

The others are required to attend office once a week.
