Indian national carrier Air India has resumed its flight services from UAE starting June 24, from 10 am, one day after the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai allowed select travelers from India to enter the country on June 19.
This comes after UAE temporarily suspended all incoming flights from India carrying national and foreign carriers on April 24, due to the surge of Covid-19 cases in India.
Starting June 24, Air India flights will operate from Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport, while Air India Express flights to depart from Dubai will have to operate from Terminal-2.
Air India Resumes Flights from Dubai
UAE had banned all flight routes to and from India on April 24, due to the increasing Covid-19 cases after the outburst of the second wave of the pandemic in India.
However, as per Air India’s website, “Effective June 24, 2021 (10 am), all Air India flights will arrive and depart from Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport. All passengers booked to travel on or after June 24 are requested to report at Dubai Terminal-1.”
Additionally, Air India Express flights scheduled to depart from Dubai will continue to operate from Dubai Terminal-2.
UAE Allows Air Travel for Indians?
On June 19, the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai announced that it will resume all flights carrying passengers from Nigeria, South Africa and India, starting June 23.
However, Dubai added that in order for Indian travelers to enter the nation, they will need to carry a ‘valid residence visa and should have received two doses of a UAE-approved vaccine’.
They would also need a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure, a rapid test four hours before departure, and another PCR test on arrival with “institutional quarantine” required until the results are received, states TOI.
There are four vaccines currently approved by the UAE government — Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
