The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced to suspend travellers from three nations, namely Sierra Leone, Namibia and Liberia.
The suspension of flights traveling from these three countries into the UAE have been put under effect from 23:59 p.m. on June 21, 2020, Monday.
While passenger flights traveling from these three countries to the Emirates have been suspended, no such suspension has been put on cargo flights.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has has added that only way individuals from these three countries can enter the Emirates are:
- They are UAE nationals,
- First-degree relatives,
- Diplomatic missions,
- Official delegations,
- Business jets, only after getting prior approvals, and/or
- Golden and silver residency permit holders, along with essential job workers.
Additionally, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management stated on Saturday that travellers from India will be allowed to enter the UAE, provided they have:
- A valid residence visa, and
- Received both the doses of a vaccine approved by UAE.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) had suspended all flights from India in April, to curb the cases of Covid-19 infection spread due to the second wave of the pandemic in India.
However, the Emirates announced on Saturday that it will resume all flights carrying passengers from Nigeria, South Africa and India, starting June 23, Wednesday.
However, Dubai added that in order for Indian travelers to enter the nation, they will need to carry a ‘valid residence visa and should have received two doses of a UAE-approved vaccine’.
They would also need a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of departure, a rapid test four hours before departure, and another PCR test on arrival with “institutional quarantine” required until the results are received, states TOI.
There are four vaccines currently approved by the UAE government — Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca.
The announcement has been made by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, headed by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
However, for passengers travelling from South Africa and Nigeria, not all of these rules apply.
Non-residence passengers from these countries are allowed to enter the Emirates, provided they comply with the vaccination and PCR test conditions.
They must submit a test certificate from a PCR test taken 48 hours before the departure showing that they are negative.
The UAE nationals are exempted from this requirement. Only QR-coded negative PCR test certificates are accepted, mentioned a Gulf News report.
