Maharashtra has been the worst affected state with a record of 27,918 fresh Covid-19 infections and 139 deaths on March 30. The Nashik administration will charge Rs five ticket per person to enter the market area for one hour to prevent the spread of coronavirus second wave by ensuring decongestion in market areas.

On Tuesday, Maharashtra had 27,918 new Covid-19 infections and 139 deaths. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the state has now reached 27,73,436. Meanwhile, Rajesh Tope, the state’s health minister, has urged people to get screened for the deadly virus.
“We are using a different approach to contain COVID-19 spread in Nashik. We are issuing a ticket of Rs 5 per person to enter a market area for an hour. It’s an attempt to save the city from entering lockdown,” said Deepak Pandey, Commissioner of Police, Nashik City on Tuesday.
“ICU and oxygen beds are filling up fast as people are coming to the hospitals in a bad state because they got themselves tested very late. I appeal to everyone to get tested,” Tope said.
The State Cannot Afford Anymore Lockdown
Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik has said that the state cannot afford a lockdown and he has asked Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to consider other options.
“In the coming days, there might be some places where a lockdown is inevitable. We will take the decision in the next couple of days,” Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray earlier said after taking his first shot of the anti-Covid vaccine.
“There is no need to have any fear or apprehension about the vaccines. I appeal to whoever is eligible to get vaccinated. We are speeding up vaccination,” Thackeray added.
“We can’t afford a lockdown. We’ve asked the CM to consider other options. Due to rising cases, he has directed the administration to prepare for a lockdown but that doesn’t mean that a lockdown is inevitable. If people follow rules, it can be avoided,” Malik told news agency ANI on Tuesday.
Thackeray had previously told senior health officials and the COVID task force that if people continued to breach COVID-related laws, they could expect restrictions similar to a lockdown.
