Indian Railways’ Ticket Fares To Increase From January 6?
There have been many media reports about the Indian Railways increasing the prices of the tickets for its passengers. However, the Indian Railways has officially confirmed that there is no possibility of any increase in the fares of tickets.
The national transporter has revealed, “Certain sections of media have reported about the possibility of some hike in passenger fares. This news is baseless and without any factual basis.”
Indian Railways has also stated that they haven’t even taken any proposal under consideration about increasing the ticket fare, and it has also advised the media not to publish or circulate such reports.
The Indian Railways’ operations were suspended on March 22, 2020, when the lockdown was imposed in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. To limit the spread of the disease, social distancing is extremely necessary, thus suspending 90% of the entire world’s operations.
Only Rumors: Fares To Increase By 15% As Reservation Fee
There were reports that stated that a reservation fee of Rs 15 will be included in the ticket fares. This report states that the prices of trains will be increased as follows:
Mailani Junction to Lakhimpur – Present fare – Rs 55; earlier Rs 40, now the fare has reached Rs 55
Mailani Junction to Hargaon – Present fare – Rs 60; earlier Rs 45
Mailani Junction to Sitapur – Present fare – Rs 70; earlier Rs 55
Mailani Junction to Lucknow Junction – Present fare – Rs 90; earlier Rs 75
Mailani Junction to Gorakhpur – Present fare – Rs 190; earlier Rs 175
However, this is not true and passengers of the Indian Railways are advised not to trust such baseless news.
