A faulty Mi A3 Android 11 update recently has bricked multiple A3 smartphones. As soon as the OS update was installed, the phones were dead. Xiaomi has released an official statement acknowledging the issue and has promised to offer a solution at no cost. All the Mi A3 users with bricked handsets will get a free repair. The Mi A3 Android 11 software update has also been withdrawn by Xiaomi.
Xiaomi addressed it was aware of the issue, and the faulty update has caused some Mi A3 handsets to freeze.
The statement further said why it had halted the rollout of Android 11 update. Affected users are requested to visit the nearest service centre of the company for a free solution. The bricked phones will be repaired at free of cost for the problem unconditionally, the company said, regardless whether the device is within warranty or not.
Earlier when some users were facing problems with the new OS installed, their Mi A3 phones did not restart, and reportedly authorised Mi service centres asked for up to Rs 11,000 to fix the phone, almost equal to the price of the phone.
A Mi A3 user even started an online petition for a free phone. The affected user said device owners shouldn’t be penalised for a mistake caused by the company and killed their Mi A3 phones. According to the user, Mi A3 users have been facing problems since the beginning and demanded a free complete fix of the device or device replacement.

Updated versions of custom ROMs based on Android 11 will be available for both Poco F1 and Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphones soon. Both Poco F1 and Xiaomi Mi A2 will be able to experience Android 11-based custom ROMs. Custom ROM developers are helping old smartphone users to have the taste of the latest Android features.
Older smartphones often are left out when it comes to upgrades due to weak hardware capabilities. But custom ROM developers are helping out users of Poco F1 and Mi A2 to upgrade to Android 11. ReloadedOS from XDA Developer user riteshsaxena is testing out Poco F1 Android 11 software.
So Poco F1 users can upgrade to Android 11 manually. The firmware is based on the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code with all the key Android 11 features.
Potato Open Source Project (POSP) is helping out Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android 11.
Another XDA Developer forumite called kenny3fcb is testing out a Mi A2 Android 11 custom ROM. Mi A2 came in 2018 and has been a part of the Android One program which guarantees Android version upgrade till next few years.
Do expect bugs on both Poco F1 and Mi A2 at this stage. But they will soon be able to run it smoothly in the final phase. Also make sure you do a complete backup of all your data smartphone before attempting to install the custom build ROM.
