Here’s The Reason Why Google Was Down For 45 Minutes: Official Explanation?

On December 14th, 2020, Google faced it’s biggest technical snig, an outage which can be described as unparalleled in its glorious history.

Several users complained that their Gamil is not working, Youtube is down, Drive not opening, Google Meet not happening and chaos was reported.

Google’s loyal users were stunned and shocked over this unexpected outage: How can Google be down, they asked.

Well, the outage was for just 45 minutes, but going by the stellar reputation which Google carries, this technical glitch gave rise to speculations and rumors.

The issue has been resolved now, and all Google services are now running fine.

Google has come up with an official explanation, as to what exactly had happened in those horror-filled 45 minutes?

Google’s Official Explanation: Why Google Was Down?

Google has described the technical snag as “an internal storage quota issue.”

Google said that the outage of “approximately 45 minutes” was caused as “services requiring users to log in experienced high error rates during this period”.

Besides, the Internat giant has expressed their sorry, and has promised an investigation into the issue, so that it’s not repeated, ever.

Here is the official statement: “The authentication system issue was resolved at 4:32AM PT. All services are now restored. We apologise to everyone affected, and we will conduct a thorough follow up review to ensure this problem cannot recur in the future.”

So, this clears things up to a larger extent.

Google’s Massive Userbase Was Rattled: This Is What Happened

Earlier in the day, Google users faced the outage globally, as more than 3.5 billion users of Google couldn’t access gmail, drive, Youtube and other critical services.

Google admitted that a problem exists, and said, “We’re aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a majority of users. The affected users are unable to access Gmail. We will provide an update by 12/14/20, 5:42 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change,”
