One of the most developed countries in the world has decided to ban all petrol and diesel vehicles, starting from 2030.

Britain Bans All Petrol And Diesel Vehicles
The United Kingdom has decided to ban all petrol and diesel vehicles in their country, effective 2030.
This means that after 2030, no vehicle running only on fossil fuel such as petrol and diesel will be sold, and allowed to run.
Hybrid vehicles, which run both on electric and petrol/diesel will be allowed to be sold till 2035.
Infact, UK had planned to ban petrol and diesel vehicles from 2035, but decided to put in place the ban 5 years earlier than scheduled.
This move is seen as a great example by a developed nation to save the climate and control pollution.
UK Govt will spend as much as $16 billion to implement this massive change in the mobility sector.
This way, UK will become the 1st ever G7 nation to put a nation-wide ban on all petrol and diesel vehicles.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has declared this as part of the ‘Green Revolution’ movement, as he said, “Although this year has taken a very different path to the one we expected, the United Kingdom is looking to the future and seizing the opportunity to build back greener,”
While $1.7 billion will be spent to establish more charging points across the country, more than $600 million will be spent on developing improved batteries and around $700 million for providing subsidies to push sales of electric vehicles.
Will India Follow Suit?
In 2017, Govt of India had announced an ambitious plan to encourage electric vehicle usage.
All petrol and diesel vehicles are supposed to be banned from 2030 in India, as per niti Aayog’s recommendations.
But it seems that implementing this massive program will be tough, in such a short span of time.
Although BS6 regulations have been imposed for all cars in India, there is a lot to do, before India can stop the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles.
