PUBG Coming To India, Confirmed: New Game, $100 Million Investment

PUBG is returning to India. PUBG Mobile will soon be available in India, parent company PUBG Corporation confirmed. India was the largest market for PUBG before it was banned in India. The game was banned in India along with 117 Chinese apps by the government amid the border tensions.

Soon after the ban, PUBG Corp took back the publishing rights. The game belonged to Chinese tech giant Tencent Games.

Well, the company has now confirmed officially that they are coming back to India, and it also plans to make an investment worth $100 million in the country. PUBG Mobile will also work in other departments as local video gaming, esports, entertainment and IT ecosystems.

The company is yet to share what the upcoming game will be about and it has been specifically developed for India.

PUBG Mobile have already cut ties with the Chinese internet giant, Tencent, which previously published the game in India. Microsoft has signed a deal to move the PUBG Mobile data to Azure.

PUBG Corporation will ensure regular audits and verifications on the storage systems which holds the Indian users’ personal data. 

Until the ban in India, PUBG Mobile had enjoyed over 50 million monthly active users in the country, making it PUBG’s largest market in the world. It was obvious for PUBG Corporation to come back to its largest market, which also hints at possible return of other Chinese apps to the country including the very popular TikTok.

Previously the Korean organisation has posted a job for Corporate Development Division Manager on LinkedIn. It’s from PUBG Corp on behalf of the Korean gaming company Krafton.

PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite were not banned in the first phase of ban of 59 Chinese apps in the country. It was banned in the second phase  Currently PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite remains banned as border tensions escalate between India and China. With the PUBG comeback confirmed, finally the hardcore PUBG lovers can have some relief.
