Tech Mahindra Forcing Employees To Stay In Guest House During Lockdown In Pune

We have received information that leading IT major Tech Mahindra is forcing employees at their Pune office to stay in Guest House, during the lockdown.

This is clearly in violation of labor laws, and inhumane treatment, since those employees who are resisting are being threatened leave without y and even termination.

Here are more details.

Tech Mahindra Forcing Employees To Stay In Guest Houses

National Information Technology Employees Senate or NITES is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empower IT and ITeS employees.

Tech Mahindra employees from Hinjewadi campus in Pune have complained to NITES that their management is forcing 45-50 employees to stay in Guest House and work for them during the lockdown.

It’t not a request, but an order from Tech Mahindra, and employees’ consent have not been taken.

In fact, if these employees don’t shift to guest house and work, then they will be denied any salary for 15 days.

As per information shared by NITES, these employees are stating that no arrangement related to safety has been implemented, and they are endangering the lives of these employees by forcing them to work from Guest House.

Why Tech Mahindra Is Forcing Employees?

Pune has announced a lockdown starting from July 13th till July 23rd, which will be implemented in two phases.

The first phase is from July 13th to July 18th, and then the second phase from 18th to 23rd.

While the 1st phase will be very strict, with no grocery, IT shop or any office allowed to be open, 2nd phase can be relaxed.

Now, as per Govt rules, any IT firm can only ask 15% of their employees to come to office, and the rest need to be work from home.

But it seems Tech Mahindra is refusing to follow Govt guidelines here, and in order to complete their client’s work, they are forcing the employees to come to the Guest House and then work, which ideally should have been work from home.

This is a developing story, and we will keep you posted, as more details come in.
