ClubFactory in Yet Another Mess!

The Bengaluru police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against Future India Private Limited, Jialun Li and Garvit Aggarwal, according to a media report. The Future India Private Limited is Club Factory’s Indian entity, Li and Aggarwal are directors of Club Factory.

An FIR has been filed against all three after a consumer registered a complaint.

He had ordered a pair of Nike shoes, Oakley sunglasses and hair oil from the Chinese e-commerce platform on January 15. The items ordered by the complainter were found to be fake, which he confirmed through a Nike outlet in Basaveshwaranagar.

The police also sent all three products to their respective authorised outlets and upon the preliminary investigation found out that all items were fake. The investigation team has spoken to the respective brand teams of the three products to file separate cases under sections of the Copyright Act.

The police elaborated the fact that Club Factory receives 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh orders per day and there is a possibility of selling several forged products via the online portal.

Apart from selling fake products across many categories, the platform has also been labelling them as “CF Verified” to gain and maintain the trust of consumers.

Past Few Accusations Against Club Factory!

Last year, many similar allegations were made against the company for selling counterfeit products as companies like Titan, Ray-Ban confirmed of no ties with Club Factory.

Last week, the Chinese company was involved in a lawsuit wherein Snapdeal accused an ex-Snapdeal but current Club factory employee for sharing, divulging and using its rival Snapdeal’s trade secrets, financial data and confidential information.

In January, the company was accused of selling drugs without prescription at the same time crossing 10 crore users in India.

Can such allegations lead to the downfall of the Chinese Company in 2020?
