Indian Railways is all set to run a new project that will boost the speed of the trains remarkably, as announced by the Chairman of Railway Board yesterday.
On successful completion of this project, trains that run will run at a truly remarkable speed of 160 km per hour on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata route.
Indian Railways is always on top of their game, with multiple projects to make sure the trains run smoothly, and looking after the passengers’ comfort. In fact, Indian Railways will soon become the world’s first electrified railways too, and now the trains will run at an unbelievable speed too.

Indian Railways To Invest 18000 Crores Trains To Run At Increased Speed
Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav announced the plans of the Indian Railways to implement a new project for increased speed of trains that will run on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata which are quite busy.
He was speaking at the inauguration event of International Rail Conference-2019 and the 13th International Railway Equipment Exhibition.
He said that the national transporter plans to invest Rs 18,000 crores for the trains on the aforementioned routes to run a boosted speed of 160 km per hour. As of now, the average maximum speed of trains on various routes is 99 km per hour.
Another plan of the Indian Railways is to have high speed trains in two categories, one on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata routes that will be running at 160 kmph, and the other one will run at 320 kmph between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which will fall under the ongoing bullet train project.
Advanced Infrastructure, Multi-tracking Project, Eco-friendly Washrooms, and More!
The Chairman also said that there will be improvements in the infrastructure, such as fencing, upgrade of track and signaling, and elimination of unmanned level-crossings, and more. It hasnt been long since the Indian Railways made available 4 lakh new seats by implementing new technical innovations.
Additionally, the Indian Railways is also planning a multi-tracking project for the ‘highly busy and utilised’ rail network, which will be done in several phases. Almost 96% of the trains travel via these routes, there is a plan to set up some more tracks.
There are also plans to set-up eco-friendly washrooms in those trains that don’t have such washrooms. As of now, about 95% rail coaches are already installed with eco-friendly washrooms.
