The digital revolution is in full form, and the credit for that goes to the smartphone and their companies. With a plethora of smartphone companies out there, and a new smartphone launching every two days, it’s quite difficult to determine which is the brand that is making more headlines in the market.
Counterpoint Research, however, has made this easier through their yearly report which reveals to us smartphones fanatics as to which are the devices and brands that are reigning over the smartphone market.
A report has been published by Counterpoint Research, a research and statistical analysis firm, which lists the best-selling ten smartphones in two criteria: globally and China-specific.
Best-selling Smartphones Globally
In the global market for smartphones, Apple has dominated the list, with six out of ten being Apple products. Samsung follows close with three of its devices, and a lone Xiaomi Redmi device has also made it to the list.
The top three iPhones, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus hit the 100 million mark. Around 16 million devices of the iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR each were sold.
Best-selling Smartphones in China
Coming to the best selling smartphones in the market of China, Oppo has emerged the winner here. With the exception of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus, the market of China was captured by Chinese smartphone brands. Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have dominated the list through and through.
However, what didn’t miss anyone’s eye is the missing Huawei brand. Given the rate at which Huawei has grown and continues to do so, it was quite surprising that none of the smartphones by the brand appeared on the list.
Counterpoint Research explained that the best-selling phone by Huawei was Huawei P20 Lite, as it sold over 13 million units. However, the huge number didn’t quite suffice for the brand to appear on the list.
