Aadhaar-PAN Card Interlinking Made Even More Easy; IT Dept. Launches Dedicated Portal For The Same

Aadhaar-PAN Card linking has been made even more easier

After Govt.of India declared that interlinking of PAN Card with Aadhaar is mandatory for filing Income Tax returns, under Finance Act 2017, there was a growing concern regarding the process of actually doing it.

A number of our readers expressed their displeasure over the whole system of interlinking, as due to small errors in names, and name mismatch, they were not able to connect their Aadhaar with PAN Card.

Understanding the woes, and the issues, Income Tax Dept. has now launched a dedicated portal to connect PAN Card with Aadhaar details for every citizen.

Besides, the rules of name matching has also been relaxed, and a OTP process has been established, which will make the process even more simpler.

Dedicated Portal For Linking PAN Card & Aadhaar

The link to the portal can now be found at the main website of Income Tax Dept: https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in (left hand sidebar)

You can also directly visit the portal here: https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Services/LinkAadhaarHome.html

To make it simple, there exists only three text boxes for filling: PAN Card Number, Aadhaar Number and Name. A captcha confirms the submission.

Now, in case the name on the Aadhaar Card and PAN is not matching due to some minor issues, then the system will verify the details via OTP (One time password), which shall be sent to the phone number & email id which is mentioned in the Aadhaar database of the user.

Hence, the system will verify the credentials, based on the OTP, in case names are mismatching. Date of birth and gender should be same on both PAN and Aadhaar, in order to seamlessly connect them.

In an advisory to all taxpayers, IT Dept said: “After verification from the UIDAI [Unique Identification Authority of India], the linking will be confirmed. In case of any minor mismatch in the Aadhaar name provided, Aadhaar OTP [one time password] will be required,”

In case the mismatching of name is extreme, then the only option is to change the name on either the PAN Card or the Aadhaar card.

The best part is, there is no need to register on the portal to make the interlinking. IT Dept. said, “There is no need to login or be registered on the e-filing website. This facility can be used by anyone to link their Aadhaar with PAN,”

June 30th is the deadline for this activity.
