Opera Launches a Forever Free VPN App for iOS Devices

There are lot of VPNs(Virtual Private Network) available for Android devices on Play Store, but there are a very few ones on iOS – and the ones that are available, are not trustworthy enough. It is rare that a huge company launches a VPN app for iOS devices to ensure people can use the internet freely.

Opera is one of the largest technology companies to launch its own VPN app for Apple devices on iOS for free. The app will also provide unlimited access to VPN, which is not the case with other developers.

“Every day, millions of people, from students to working people, find that social-media sites like Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook are blocked when they surf on their campus or workplace Wi-Fi. The same goes for video-streaming sites. With the new Opera VPN app, we help people to break down the barriers of the web and enjoy the internet like it should be,” says Chris Houston, President of Surfeasy, Opera’s VPN division.

The app also does the job of blocking unnecessary ad-tracking cookies on the browser which gives user a much need internet-privacy. The app is available in 9 languages – English, Arabic, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

The Opera VPN for iOS is in addition to their free built-in VPN for their desktop browser  which was launched just last month. Opera browser is one of the first browsers to have a built-in VPN among all major browsers available today!

This is a great opportunity for students and employees and workplace to access videos and websites usually blocked by University authorities or company’s InfoSec personnel. Although one can use 3G/4G on his/her phone to access these, using them at free WiFi sources costs almost nothing and gives a better experience.

The application gives options to users to select either of the countries – USA, Singapore, Germany and Canada to route the internet connection for free internet usage.

The VPN service can be used for wrong activities, however internet is purely in the hands of the user. There are always other gateways to access websites, VPN just makes it easy to bypass the restrictions on the internet.

iOS users in India can finally view their favourite YouTube videos at office, some of which can be educational and applied at respective workplaces. Restrictions are not always healthy and VPN let’s you browse the internet freely without worrying about trackers.
