Snapdeal Sunshine, a Donation Platform for Better India

Crowdsourcing in the best way to provide services to someone who does not have the adequate financial resources for. Snapdeal has come out with a similar service to help the NGOs in India.

Snapdeal Sunshine, a program run by Snapdeal, is providing you an opportunity to give back to the community that gave you so much. In an attempt to uplift the unprivileged part of the society, the program will allow you to donate some listed products on its website to any of the associated NGOs, who are in need of those products.

Of course, all the products being donated will be coming from Snapdeal’s own inventory and as the product requirement at the NGO gets fulfilled, it will be taken off the NGO’s page.

Talking about the initiative, Rajnish Wahi, SVP, Corporate Affairs and Communications at Snapdeal said, “Our partner NGOs will be able to crowd-source much needed resources to amplify and grow their good work.”

There are a lot of known NGOs that have partnered with Snapdeal, like Happy Feet Home, Magic Bus, Teach for India, Helpage India, Akshaya Patra and Goonj etc. The good thing is that Snapdeal lists down details of the NGOs on its website, along with beneficiaries as well as the cause so as to give the donators complete picture of the scenarios.

How does it work?

The initiative is very simple in nature and is sure to convince you to donate for charity. All you have to do is select the NGO you wish to donate for. It can be anything from an NGO that helps support the education of kids or promoting sports amongst youngsters.

Click on Donate Now button for the desired NGO and you will see some items being requested by those organisations. Clicking on Donate will take you to the transaction page, and all you have to do is decide the quantity you want to donate.

On the backend, Snapdeal will make sure the product in the same quantity is delivered at the NGO. This way, the whole nation pitches and the NGOs receive what they wanted to.

While some NGOs are requesting items as small as light bulbs and books, some may request wheelchairs, cricket kits for kids and printers. This ensures that people donate as much as they can and not worry about going out of budget. Once the product is donated and accepted at the NGO, its progress can also be tracked on a regular basis.

This is an excellent initiative that will definitely help these NGOs to improve their services and meet their goals in a short period of time. Customers do not hesitate to donate products, but they are usually not aware of relatively comfortable and secure means to. Giving back to the society is our responsibility and we hope Snapdeal adds provisions to donate unused and old products at home.
