Samsung Beats Nokia To Become India’s Most Trusted Brand in 2014

According to a new study by Brand Trust Report, India Study 2014 (BRT 2014), it has been found that Samsung is the most trusted brand in India right now. Last year, Nokia held #1 position but it has since slipped down to 5th position.

In number 2 position is Sony, followed by Tata. Last year, Samsung was at #2, Sony was third and Tata was ranked 5th in overall brand trust all over India.

Brand Trust Report is created by a company called Trust Research Advisory, which uses its proprietary 61-attribute Trust Matrix to determine which is the most trusted brand in the country.

For the last year’s survey, they had surveyed 2505 influencers from 16 Indian cities generating 3 million datapoints. As per the website, they had identified more than 19000 brands, spread across 200+ categories to come up with top 1200 brands in India.

This year marks their 4th such report, after ranking the brands in 2011, 2012 and 2013. For this year’s research, Trust Research Advisory has put in 15000 hours of fieldwork covering 2500 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India and generated 5 million datapoints.

They have scanned 20,000 brands all across India, categorized under 284 categories to came up with the top 1200 brands which are the most trusted in India.

N. Chandramouli, CEO of Trust Research Advisory, said, “Samsung has grown steadily in trust ranks over the last four years – 5th in 2011, 4th in 2012, 2nd in 2013 and has reached India’s Most Trusted rank this year. When a brand focuses on its trust with intensity, apart from trust the brand gains in market-share, product premium and acceptance of new products as an automatic by-product. Samsung’s strategy of focusing on the core intangibles of its brand is evident from its climb to leadership in BTR 2014.”

Out of the top 100 brands, Consumer Electronics niche constituted 10 brands, Bath/Beauty had 9, Mobiles niche has 8 brands, 4-Wheelers, Telephony, and 2-Wheelers with 4 each, and Personal Technology, Sportswear and Aerated Drinks have 3 brands. 11 brands are from various diversified niches.
