India registers highest quarterly GDP growth in 2 years – Expects 9 % Growth going forward
After couple of years of recessionary phase – India is back on a fierce growth path. Last Quarter’s GDP growth of 8.8 percent is highest since December 2007, when Global economies tumbling following the Lehman Brothers debacle.
The Industry leaders along with Assocham as well as CII are quite hopeful that India’s GDP will witness 9 percent growth for year 2010-11. However, there is a constant worry about the Inflation numbers which are consistently hovering around double digit mark.
Even though RBI has increased the key interest rates couple of time already this year, Inflation doesn’t seem to have had much effect.
Nokia launches Dual Sim Mobile phones to stave off competition from local Indian mobile phone brands.
The growth of local Indian mobile phone brands seems to have jolted Nokia quite a bit – Their 2 new recent Mobile handset launches – Nokia C1 and Nokia C2 – are actually quite different from any of their previous lineup. The new mobile handsets are low cost dual sim mobiles, which Nokia has resisted introducing till now.
Nokia’s market share has been fast eroding to the likes of Micromax, Zen, Spice, Karbonn, and to stem further slide in their market share – these 2 new launches seems to be a desperate attempt.
I believe that this is probably just the start – We will see lot more of these low cost, yet feature rich phones from Motorolas, Nokias and Samsungs of the world !
After Blackberry, Government attention turns towards Google Skype now…
Blackberry issue seems to have been settled for next couple of Months – But Indian Government’s next target seems to be Google & Skype. According to this BS article, Indian government is likely to send communications soon to search engine Google and internet telephony provider Skype for giving access to their services for monitoring and setting up a server in India.
The question really arises here – There are tons of other channels through which information passes undetected. How is Indian Government planning to monitor all of those ? This really is an unending process, but Blackberry issue has set a precedence and Govt. agencies will have to apply the same rules to everyone.
For me it is a impossible task – I think this whipping is going to soon loose steam….what is your take ?
