New Delhi, 3rd biggest spamming city in the World, Mumbai 6th!

Although, India has one of the lowest Internet penetration in the world (less than 1%), it is forefront when it comes to online spamming. According to recently released report by Panda Security, India is ranked second among all countries from where spam originates.

The Top spamming country is Brazil, followed by India – Korea, Vietnam & United States round up the top 5 spamming countries.

Brazil accounts for 13.76% of all spams sent out on the internet, India accounts for 10.98% and Korea accounts for 6.32%.

These findings were based on analysis by Panda Security of nearly five million spam messages generated in January and February 2010, sent from one million different IP addresses.

Top Spamming Cities in the world

When it comes to the cities, India capital New Delhi stands at 3rd position with over 1.67% of all spam sent from it alone. The number one position goes to Seoul which accounts for 4.64% of all Internet spam.

Hanoi, in Vietnam comes at 2nd position which accounts for nearly 4% of all spam. 3 Indian cities feature in top 20 cities – with 2 in top 6. New Delhi at 3rd, Mumbai at 6th and Hyderabad at 20th position.

It is surprising that Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore does not feature in this list, even though Bangalore has highest Internet penetration in the country !
