Zomato has joined the quick food delivery segment with a new 15-minute service. The feature, although not officially announced, is live under the Explore section on the Zomato app. This initiative puts Zomato in direct competition with Swiggy Bolt and other fast-delivery platforms.
The dedicated tab on the app showcases quick-to-prepare and ready-to-eat meals from select restaurants. Deliveries are limited to outlets within a 2-kilometer radius, offering slightly longer delivery times than Swiggy Bolt’s 10-minute guarantee.
Quick Commerce Industry Gains Momentum
The quick commerce industry is rapidly growing, and Zomato’s entry intensifies the competition. Following the launch of Blinkit’s Bistro, Zomato appears to be doubling down on its quick service strategy. Bistro, a Zomato-owned venture, focuses on delivering healthy juices, snacks, and meals in minutes. Although Bistro is not yet operational, its expansion plans signal Zomato’s long-term ambitions in the health-focused segment.
Swiggy and Others in the Race
Swiggy, which introduced its Bolt service in October, revealed that 5% of its food orders now come from quick deliveries. Other players like Ola Dash and Zepto Café are also striving to meet the growing demand for ultra-fast services.
Ola Dash offers a 10-minute food delivery option in Bengaluru, while Zepto Café provides quick beverages and meals through its standalone app. These developments highlight the increasing focus on speed and convenience as key differentiators in the market.
Zomato’s Bold Move Signals High Stakes
Zomato’s latest foray into 15-minute food delivery underlines the potential of quick commerce. The fierce competition in this space reflects the high stakes involved in winning over consumers seeking instant gratification.
By expanding its quick delivery offerings, Zomato positions itself to carve out a significant share of this fast-growing market. As customer expectations evolve, Zomato’s bold step ensures it remains at the forefront of innovation in food delivery.
