Zomato Received 3 Biryani Orders Per Second In 2024

Similarly, pizza has traditionally held a strong position although it has witnessed a noticeable decline in orders.

Let’s take a look at some of the standout insights from this year’s findings.

Continuing its reign, Biryani remains as the undisputed favourite with over nine crore orders in 2024 on Zomato.

But it can not be denied that there was a dip in sales compared to the previous year despite the massive volume.

Earlier, Zomato recorded a staggering 10,09,80,615 biryani orders during 2023.

This number appears to have dropped to 9,13,99,110 in 2024 marking a decrease of almost 95 lakh orders.

But it still remains to be favorite with Zomato receiving over three biryani orders per second, while Swiggy received two per second.

Decline In Pizza Orders

So far,  pizza is considered to be a staple of Indian food culture, but it didn’t fare as well this year.

It has witnessed a drop with the number of pizza orders on Zomato fell from 7,45,30,036 in 2023 to 5,84,46,908 in 2024.

This indicates a significant drop of over 20 per cent.

Notably, Zomato is not the only platform keeping track of food trends.

As this news comes from Swiggy as its data revealed that dosa took over the second spot of the most-ordered dish in 2024, with a whopping 2.3 crore orders.

This basically indicates the growing appetite for traditional, comfort foods alongwith the usual fast-food favourites like pizza.

Besides this, Zomato has some other amusing stories too.

For instance, one of customer ordered 120 manchurian combos to feed an entire train bogey!

The other jaw-dropping story comes from Bengaluru, where a foodie spent over Rs 5 lakh on a single dining experience.

This simply showcase that some of the  customers are willing to splurge for food.
