In response to the diverse dietary preferences prevalent in India, online food delivery giant Zomato has introduced ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and ‘Pure Veg Fleet.’ CEO Deepinder Goyal unveiled the new services via X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the company’s commitment to meeting the needs of the country’s large vegetarian demographic.
Addressing Vegetarian Preferences
Goyal highlighted India’s status as the world’s leading hub for vegetarians, underscoring the importance of catering to their specific culinary requirements. “We’ve gotten feedback from them that they are very particular about how their food is cooked, and how their food is handled,” noted Goyal, emphasizing the need for specialized services.
‘Pure Veg Mode’ ensures that customers with a 100% vegetarian dietary preference can access a curated selection of restaurants serving exclusively vegetarian fare. Goyal clarified that these establishments would exclude any non-vegetarian offerings from their menus, providing a sanctuary for those seeking purity in their meals.
Furthermore, Goyal clarified that the newly launched services are inclusive and do not discriminate based on religious or political preferences. “Please note that this Pure Veg Mode, or the Pure Veg Fleet doesn’t serve or alienate any religious or political preference,” he reassured users, emphasizing Zomato’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
Here’s Zoato founder’s tweet:
I have received an overwhelmingly positive response on this launch from so many people. A lot of comments from young people who eat non-veg food saying “now my parents can also use zomato”.

I would like to repeat that this feature strictly serves a dietary preference. And I know…
Expanding Specialized Services
Looking ahead, Zomato aims to enhance its offerings by introducing more specialized fleets tailored to meet the diverse needs of its customers. Goyal teased future plans, hinting at the introduction of a ‘cake delivery fleet’ equipped with hydraulic balancers to prevent cakes from getting smudged during transit.
“The future holds more specialized fleets for special customer needs,” said Goyal, hinting at the company’s innovative approach to meet evolving consumer demands. The imminent launch of the cake delivery fleet is expected to further enhance the delivery experience, ensuring that customers receive their orders in pristine condition.
With ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and ‘Pure Veg Fleet,’ Zomato reaffirms its position as a frontrunner in the food delivery industry, setting new standards for customer-centric services. As the company continues to innovate and expand its offerings, it remains dedicated to providing a seamless and tailored dining experience for all.
