The annual ordering trends report disclosed that a staggering 10.09 crore biryani orders were processed on the platform throughout the year, a quantity substantial enough to occupy the space equivalent to eight Qutub Minars in Delhi.

Biryani maintained its dominance as the most-ordered dish on Swiggy for the ninth consecutive year, with India collectively placing 2.5 biryani orders per second in 2023. Notably, the data from the food delivery platform indicated that for every 5.5 chicken biryanis, there was a request for one veg biryani.
The allure of biryani extended to Swiggy, where 2.49 million customers made their debut on the platform by placing biryani orders. On Zomato, biryani claimed the top spot, followed by pizza, which garnered over 7.45 crore orders in 2023, covering an expanse larger than five Eden Gardens cricket stadiums.

Noodle bowls secured the third position, accumulating nearly 4.55 crore orders on Zomato, a quantity sufficient to encircle the earth’s circumference 22 times, according to the food delivery giant’s statistics.
Further insights from the report revealed that Bengaluru topped the charts for breakfast orders on Zomato in 2023, while Delhi claimed the lead for late-night orders. The study also highlighted Bengaluru as the location for the company’s largest order of the year, with a user conducting a single transaction worth Rs 46,273.
