Xiaomi’s latest announcement is the flagship Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro phones, but to start with, only in China. A global launch will probably follow soon, but for now, let’s look at the specifications and features of the Chinese variants!
Specifications
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X memory and next-generation UFS 4.0 storage, based on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process, powers both smartphones.
Display
Xiaomi 13 Pro – There are not many changes in the display of the Xiaomi 13 Pro as compared to the Xiaomi 12 Pro. The phone comes with a 6.73-inch display, a 120Hz variable refresh rate since it’s an LTPO panel, 1440 x 3200px resolution, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, and 1920Hz DC dimming against aggressive PWM.
The device is available in four colors – White, Black, Green, and some sort of Light Blue
Xiaomi 13 – The display on this phone is 6.36″ with 1080 x 2400px resolution, 120Hz refresh rate (no granular control available as it’s not LTPO), Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG support. There also is an ambient color temperature sensor.
The device comes in Black, Light Green, Light Blue, Gray, White, Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue colors.
Camera
Xiaomi 13 Pro – The triple 50MP setup on the back of the Xiaomi 13 Pro along with a Leica-branded lens with an f/1.9 aperture. There also is the Hyper OIS has been paired with the well-known 1-inch Sony IMX989, a 1.6-m sensor from the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
The telephoto lens has a similar 50MP resolution, an additional 3x zoom, and a Leica Floating Lens element with a slightly smaller f/2.0 aperture with a remarkable 10 cm close focusing distance.
The old 50MP, f/2.2, 14mm unit with macro support and AF is still available; the ultrawide doesn’t get any new fancy technology.
Xiaomi 13 – On all of its cameras, Leica also customizes the camera setup on the back. 50 MP, f/1.8, 23mm, 1/1.56″, 1.0 m, and Hyper OIS are the primary specifications. The Xiaomi 12’s main shortcoming was the lack of a proper telephoto lens; which has now been rectified. A 10MP camera with OIS support, a Leica lens, an f/2.0 aperture, and a native 3x zoom is available. The ultrawide now has a 12MP resolution and an f/2.2 aperture, most likely without autofocus.
Battery
Xiaomi 13 Pro – The battery is of 4,820 mAh and Xiaomi’s Surge G1 chip enables safe 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The standard 10W reverse wireless charging is also available.
Xiaomi 13 – A 4,500 mAh cell with 67W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging capabilities makes up the battery system.
