A new feature from Elon Musk’s X is about to be released to rival Instagram Reels and TikTok.
Depending on their interests, users will receive a stream of videos, both longer-form and shorter-form videos.
New Feature on Elon Musk’s X: Reels
By gathering user-generated and shared video material under one tab, the service seeks to spotlight it.
Later this summer, a beta version is anticipated to be accessible to a limited number of users.
Since acquiring Vine in October 2022, Elon Musk has expressed a desire to release an enhanced version of the social media network.
When Musk polled his fans in April about whether to revive Vine, almost 70% said “yes.” The “cool video experience” of Vine is what the new video platform seeks to recreate.
With 200 million users at its height, Vine helped spark viral movements like the Ice Bucket Challenge, which raised money for ALS research. However, due to its inability to generate revenue, Vine was shut down by Twitter in 2017.
Millions of Americans might search for other sites like X to post their films if the TikTok ban takes effect.
Live Streaming Video To Also Be Introduced on X
By drawing in well-known figures and landing agreements with significant sports and media organizations, Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, is contributing to the platform’s exclusive content expansion.
A live streaming video component will be a part of the new product, distinct from the current audio “spaces.” X believes that his Vine-inspired idea might bring in money via subscription services and “verification.”
X currently derives over 25% of its revenue from data licensing and subscription sales.
With more than two million followers, former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard revealed she was starting a new show with X. X is extending its roster of exclusive content partnerships, which now includes the WWE, PGA, NBA, NFL, Condé Nast, and WNBA.
The social media behemoth is making a long-form Boston Celtics documentary. Additionally, exclusive posts are being created for X by prominent businesswoman Paris Hilton, sports announcer Jim Rome, and former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
By splitting the profits with some creators, X hopes to draw in smaller brands with specialized fan bases. X is getting ready to release a smart TV app that will simplify the process of watching longer films on a larger screen.
The X TV app is anticipated to launch later this summer, although it is currently in development.
