In a recent event, technology companies showcased countless connected gadgets during the world’s biggest wireless telecom fair which was held at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
It was a four-day event that ended on Thursday (February 29, 2024) where companies and professionals from the telecommunications industry meet to present new products and services and discuss current trends.
Let’s go through some of the highlights of the world’s largest and most important trade fair for telecommunications and mobile Internet.
Tecno Mobile’s Robotic Dog
Inspired by the German Shepherd, the Chinese firm Tecno Mobile showed off a robotic dog.
This dog uses AI and powerful sensors to understand voice commands and perform lifelike actions which includes bowing, shaking hands and climbing stairs.
Interestingly, this robot which was dubbed as the “Dynamic 1”, can be controlled by smartphone apps as well.
This creation aims to provide the “joy of pet ownership” without the usual hassles.
Alef Aeronautics Showcased ‘World’s First’ Flying Car
During this fair, the US technology firm, Alef Aeronautics showcased the working model of the world’s first real flying car which is displayed to the public for the first time.
According to the company’s president and CEO, Jim Dukhovny, “It drives like a car, looks like a car and has a vertical take-off.”
Besides this, the electric-powered car has received special airworthiness certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
When it comes to its efficiency, its current prototype can transport two people a distance of up to around 110 miles (170 kilometers).
The company is looking forward to the commencement of production of a final version by the end of 2025 as it has already received nearly 3,000 pre-orders for the car, which sells for $300,000.
Lenovo Presented Transparent Laptop
Yes you read right, the Chinese manufacturer Lenovo showcased a prototype of a laptop having a 17.3-inch transparent glass screen offering “a completely borderless and see-through display experience”.
In place of a traditional keyboard, it offers a touch surface where keys can be projected.
The user can also use a special pen to draw on the screen.
So far, the release date for the product has not been announced by the company yet.
Notably, the transparency of the screen can be adjusted.
So that not everyone who passes by can always see what you are doing.
While talking about the prototype, the Lenovo executive director Aiguo Zheng said, “The transparent display existed only in futuristic movies, maybe in AR glasses. That’s only in the past as we can see.”
