What To Expect With WearOS 4 ?
Google claims that WearOS 4 brings several under-the-hood changes based on Android 13.
These changes are aimed at improving battery life and introduces a new text-to-speech engine which is more accurate and faster compared to the current version.
As part of this update, users will be able to check their messages on the smartwatch, and all chats will be end-to-end encrypted.
Besides this, the users can send voice notes to recent conversations or reply to a message with a voice note or text input.
But, notably they will not be able to initiate a new conversation or search for a particular chat on the Wear OS app at the moment.
According to Google, the support for calls and starting conversations will be available when the app is available to all users.
Further, the search giant also claimed that WearOS is the fastest-growing smartwatch platform in the world.
Since Wear OS 3 launched in 2021, the platform has grown five times, as per the company.
In the bigger scheme of things, Apple still dominates the overall smartwatch market.
So far, Samsung is the largest WearOS device manufacturer with Fossil and Ticwatch also launching some models.
Google launched its own Pixel Watch last year running Wear OS notably.
In addition to this, Google is also working on an improved Gmail and Calendar app integration, which lets you reply to emails and RSVP to event invites from the watch itself.
Besides the above mentioned updates, the recently launched Google Home app for WearOS will show enhanced device controls like the ability to adjust lighting, control median and camera preview.
It has another feature which provides the ability to access your favorite mobile apps from the watch.
