WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that will allow users to instantly create a new group while forwarding messages.
The “Forward to New Group” option lets users save time since this will allow them to forward a message en masse without having to select contacts manually.
Beta testing
“A few hours ago, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.16.3 update has been released on the Google Play Store.
This new version also introduces a new feature. Specifically, a select group of beta testers may be able to create a new group while forwarding a message,” WABetaInfo reported.
How it appears
A new “Create group” icon may appear within the forwarding screen.
By selecting the option, users can add participants to the group and the message will be forwarded automatically.
To check if this feature is available, try forwarding a message and see if the new icon appears on the forwarding screen.
Enhanced privacy
The latest feature comes just two months after it said it is working to set up usernames as an added layer of privacy.
In May, it was discovered that WhatsApp is working on introducing usernames to the app.
This could replace phone numbers as the sole way to identify users.
This will serve to enhance privacy since users will be able to hide their phone numbers and show their usernames instead.
It should come into use especially when communicating with others outside of their inner circle.
Chat with unsaved contacts
WhatsApp now offers an opportunity to open chats with unknown numbers without having to save them to the contacts list.
Users can do so by going to their contact list, tapping the search icon, entering the number they want to message.
WhatsApp will search outside their contacts and the contact will show up.
They will then need to simply click the ‘Chat’ button to start a conversation.
