The instant messaging giant, WhatsApp, is currently working on a new third-party chat info feature which will enable the users to send messages across other messaging applications like Signal and Telegram.
WhatsApp’s Third-Party Chat Integration
This piece of information came from WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp.
The report said that “Since profile names and photos are unavailable in third-party chats, WhatsApp will instead display the default profile photo and the third-party app name from which the chat originated”.
As per reports, users shall also be enabled to choose which apps should be able to communicate with their WhatsApp account, which makes it all the more interesting.
However, there are some limitations when it comes to this features, one of which is the ability or lack of support for group chats involving 3rd party apps. Notably, it is also not possible to call another party app through WhatsApp since the initial communication offered by the feature is limited to text only.
Exploring Other Optional Features by WhatsApp
More and more interesting features shall be available as the feature is further groomed by WhatsApp, though it is important to note that this feature is optional and not enforced on all users.
In addition to this, a new security feature is also in the pipeline for WhatsApp wherein account verification improvement shall kick in.
Some beta testers are now able to access the passkey feature, which is designed and developed to act as an additional layer of security and convenience to access account. Though with the Android 2.23.20.4 update, the passkey was released to beta testers, the same is not available for iOS.
