The iPhone 15 Pro Max, positioned at the top of the iPhone 15 lineup, secured the second spot in DxOMark’s camera test.

This flagship smartphone was unveiled alongside the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro during the Apple Wonderlust event on September 12.

Wait.. What? This Smartphone Beats iPhone 15 Pro Max In DxOMark's Camera Test! (No, It Isn't Samsung Or Pixel)

iPhone 15 Pro Max Named Best of iPhone 15 Series; Secures 2nd Spot in DxOMark’s Camera Test

DxOMark evaluated the device in various categories, including photo, video, zoom, preview, and bouquet features.

In DxOMark’s assessment, the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored an impressive 154 points, placing it just behind the Huawei P60 Pro, which scored 156 points. The photos taken with the iPhone 15 Pro Max exhibit excellent brightness and contrast, particularly on HDR-enabled displays.

The test results emphasized the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s ability to provide accurate exposure, natural color reproduction, lifelike skin tones, and swift and precise autofocus. Additionally, the phone was commended for its video stabilization capabilities.

However, DxOMark noted that the new zoom features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, while generally effective, displayed inconsistency across different ranges. It also mentioned that the handset struggled to mitigate undesirable artifacts like flare, ghosting, aliasing, especially in low-light photography.

Comparatively, the previous iPhone 14 Pro Max ranked ninth on the DxOMark scale. The recently launched iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel 3x telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel periscope camera offering up to 5x optical zoom.

The triple rear camera setup of the iPhone 14 Pro Max includes a 48-megapixel sensor with wide-angle lens and OIS, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with a periscope lens. Additionally, it features a 12-megapixel TrueDepth sensor for the front camera.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max trails behind the Huawei P60 Pro, known for its 48-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and another 48-megapixel telephoto camera offering 3.5x optical zoom and an impressive 100x digital zoom. The rear camera setup includes an LED flash, and the front camera is a 13-megapixel sensor.

Equipped with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and protected by Apple’s Ceramic Shield material, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is powered by the A17 Pro chipset built on a 3nm process. It boasts an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and offers a battery life of up to 29 hours, matching the preceding iPhone 14 Pro Max. The base 256GB storage variant of the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at Rs. 1,59,900 in India.
