Vodafone Idea (Vi), one of India’s leading telecom operators, has announced the launch of its 5G services in Pune starting tomorrow. With this, Pune becomes the fifth city in Maharashtra to experience Vi’s next-generation connectivity, following Nagpur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Vi had earlier introduced its 5G services in Mumbai in March 2025.
Growing 5G Footprint in India
Vi is systematically expanding its 5G presence across its 17 priority circles, where it has acquired spectrum. The rollout has already reached major cities including Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Mysuru, Chandigarh, Patna, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vishakhapatnam, Madurai, and Agra. This phased approach aims to balance demand, spectrum availability, and 5G device adoption.
Introductory 5G Offer for Pune Users
Vi users in Pune with 5G-enabled devices will be able to access Vi 5G services starting tomorrow. To mark the launch, Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on recharge plans starting from ₹299. Subscribers can enjoy high-definition streaming, immersive gaming, smoother video conferencing, faster downloads, and real-time cloud access—ushering in a superior digital experience.
Strategic Partnerships and Technology Upgrades
To ensure reliable performance, Vi has partnered with Ericsson to deploy advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure across Maharashtra. The company has also implemented AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) that optimize network efficiency in real time, promising a seamless 5G experience.
Meanwhile, Vi has continued to strengthen its 4G network in Maharashtra & Goa. Since March 2024, the operator has:
- Deployed 900 MHz spectrum on over 7,900 sites for stronger indoor coverage.
- Enhanced 2100 MHz spectrum capacity across 7,000 sites.
- Added more than 2,100 new sites across 2,200 towns.
These upgrades underscore Vi’s commitment to offering consistent and high-quality connectivity across both urban and rural areas.
