On September 16, 2024, Indian Railways announced the renaming of the ‘Vande Metro’ to the ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.’ The service was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday during his visit to Gujarat. The inaugural train journey started from Bhuj and reached Ahmedabad, covering 359 kilometers in just 5 hours and 45 minutes.
This new rail service aims to redefine inter-city travel in India, offering a cost-effective option for passengers with a ticket price of Rs 455 for the entire journey. The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will run at a top speed of 110 kmph, stopping at key stations such as Anjar, Gandhidham, and Sabarmati.
