In response to growing frustration among air travelers, AeroMall—the authority managing passenger pickups at Pune Airport—has taken a firm stand against cab drivers who repeatedly refuse rides. This move aims to restore discipline at a critical transit point and ensure smoother passenger experiences.

Frequent Complaints Prompt Strict Action
Over the past few months, passengers arriving at Pune Airport have voiced concerns about cab drivers declining rides—particularly for short distances or less profitable destinations. Many travelers have found themselves stranded outside the terminal, with drivers often favoring long-distance or higher-fare trips.
Taking these complaints seriously, AeroMall has now announced a policy targeting repeated violations. “We’ve received numerous complaints about drivers rejecting rides that don’t suit their convenience. This behavior disrupts airport flow and cannot be tolerated,” said Y.S. Rajput, Vice-President of AeroMall.
Temporary Bans and Real-Time Tracking in Place
To enforce the new rules, AeroMall, in collaboration with cab aggregators, is compiling a list of repeat offenders. First-time violators will receive warnings, while continued disobedience may lead to suspensions from entering the pickup zone—ranging from a few days to several weeks.
AeroMall is also using geotagging technology to monitor driver behavior in real-time. This allows authorities to track refusal patterns, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Improving Passenger Experience with a Dedicated Helpline
In addition to disciplinary actions, AeroMall is also focusing on passenger welfare. A dedicated helpline number will soon be launched and prominently displayed across the airport to help travelers report issues and get immediate assistance when stranded.
“We want to make sure that every flier who lands here can exit the airport without added stress. These changes are meant to create a more reliable and respectful ride-hailing ecosystem,” added Rajput.
Sending a Clear Message
The initiative serves as a warning to cab drivers who prioritize profit over protocol. By enforcing stricter rules and offering real-time support, AeroMall hopes to significantly reduce ride refusals and improve the reputation of Pune Airport’s ground transportation system.
Passengers and drivers alike are encouraged to cooperate as these new regulations roll out in the coming days.
