India has finally, after years of anticipation, completed its 2 major international airports which are all set to open in 2025. These are touted to revolutionize the country’s travel landscape.
This comes after the officials have confirmed that the Navi Mumbai International Airport will launch mid-year, whereas the Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is slated to open in the third week of April 2025.
Navi Mumbai International Airport Set to Open in April 2025, Easing Congestion and Boosting Connectivity
The second international airport of Mumbai, located in Navi Mumbai, is expected to open in April 2025. In its 1st phase, it shall feature a single terminal, one runway, and a full-length parallel taxiway. Eventually, the airport will expand to include four terminals and two runways, increasing capacity and easing the pressure on the city’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Positioned near Panvel, the new airport will also benefit travellers from Pune, whose limited air connectivity often forces them to fly out of Mumbai, adding considerable travel time. Adani Airport Holdings Ltd., which also manages Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, is developing the project. While the specific airlines and flights to operate from the airport have yet to be confirmed, it is expected to become a key hub for both domestic and international flights.
Noida International Airport to Open on April 17, 2025, Enhancing Connectivity and Air Travel in India
Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, will officially open on April 17, 2025. The airport shall too begin its operations in phases. The 1st one would include one terminal, one runway, 10 aerobridges, and 25 parking stands. In the first phase, the airport will handle 65 daily flights—62 domestic, two international, and one cargo flight. The new airports shall have leading Indian carriers like IndiGo and Akasa Air, who have confirmed their operations from the airport.
International flights will include destinations like Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai, while domestic services will connect to cities such as Lucknow, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dehradun, and Hubli. The development of Noida International Airport is being led by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, raising expectations for the airport’s success as a major travel hub.
Both airports are expected to significantly enhance India’s air connectivity, reducing congestion at existing airports and providing more convenience for travellers across the country.
