After more than seven months of unofficial operation, the 71-km stretch of the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway from Hedigenabele (near Hoskote) to Sundarapalya (near KGF) will officially begin toll collection soon. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has finalized the toll rates and is coordinating with district officials to integrate the tolling system fully.

Toll Rates for Cars and Heavy Vehicles
For cars and jeeps, the toll charges are as follows:
- Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya: ₹185 (one-way), ₹275 (round trip)
- Sundarapalya to Hedigenabele: ₹190 (one-way), ₹275 (round trip)
- Monthly pass (50 trips): ₹6,105 to ₹6,260 depending on direction
For light commercial vehicles (LCVs), light goods vehicles (LGVs), and minibuses:
- ₹295 (Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya), ₹445 (round trip)
- ₹305 (Sundarapalya to Hedigenabele), ₹455 (round trip)
For heavy vehicles like trucks and buses:
- ₹620 (Hedigenabele to Sundarapalya), ₹930 (round trip)
- ₹635 (Sundarapalya to Hedigenabele), ₹955 (round trip)
Toll collection will be handled by four plazas at Hedigenabele, Agrahara, Krishnarajapura, and Sundarapalya, based on distance traveled.
High-Speed, High Demand—But Safety Concerns Remain
The expressway is designed for high-speed travel at up to 120 kmph and is already popular among commuters heading toward Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) and eastern Karnataka. However, its delayed official launch has led to challenges, particularly illegal entry by two-wheelers, which are prohibited.
Many two-wheeler riders have been sneaking onto the expressway through unfinished sections of the boundary wall, causing serious safety risks. In response, the NHAI has requested permission to deploy home guards at toll booths and vulnerable access points until full fencing is completed.
