In a move that’s set to benefit thousands of local commuters, the government has rolled out a new toll policy allowing unlimited travel through toll plazas for people living within 20 km—at a fixed cost of just ₹340 per month. No repeated FASTag deductions, no surprises, and no more daily toll stress.

Toll Becomes Free For Those Staying Within 20 Kms: Pay Only Rs 340/Month

Who Can Avail This?

  • Only private vehicle owners
  • Must reside within 20 km of a toll plaza
  • Commercial vehicles are not eligible

How Does It Work?

Under the updated National Highway Fee Rules 2008, residents living near toll plazas can purchase a monthly pass for ₹340. Once issued, this pass allows unlimited crossings for 30 days without incurring further toll charges.

This aligns with the government’s “Jitni Doori, Utna Toll” policy launched as a pilot from July 2024, focusing on distance-based tolling using GNSS tracking tech.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Unlimited access to toll roads for one month
  • ₹340 fixed monthly pass
  • No FASTag balance deductions
  • Reduces travel cost for daily commuters
  • Encourages local mobility without financial burden

What You Need for the Pass

  1. Proof of residence within 20 km (Aadhaar, Voter ID, utility bill)
  2. Vehicle RC
  3. FASTag account
  4. Photo (if needed)

How to Get the Pass

  • Visit your nearest toll plaza office
  • Fill out the local resident pass form
  • Submit the form along with documents
  • Pay ₹340 (via cash, card, or UPI)
  • FASTag will be updated or a physical pass issued

Once approved, you’re free to travel as many times as you want for the next 30 days.

Final Word

With this smart move, the government is reducing the toll burden on local commuters and ensuring smoother mobility around toll regions. Just ₹340 and a one-time visit can make your daily travel stress-free and toll-free for the whole month!
