Discord, the instant messaging and VoIP social platform which allows communication through voice calls, video calls, text messaging, and media has now introduced a new ‘ignore’ feature which will allow users to partially ignore others.

This Messenger App Offers Feature To 'Partially' Ignore Others

Announcement Of New Feature On Discord

The feature is aimed to offer more control over interactions.

As per this new update on Discord, the users can ignore other people without having to mute notifications of the app or block them.

Further, with this feature, the users can hide annoying messages that their friends or even some random people like to spam.

Please note here that this is basically acting as a mute option for the users.

There will be no change in the way people use it, the people ignored can still send messages and users will still be able to see them at their convenience.

Many would argue that this feature should have been added to the app long before, however, it’s better late than never.

Prior to this Implementation, the users would have to either mute the entire app DMs or block people which wasn’t convenient in most cases in order to mute notifications.

To ignore people, simply click on their profile and navigate to where the block option is present. A new ignore option will be present there.

What Are The Benefits With Ignore Feature?

If you are wondering about the Ignored people, they will not be notified.

Contrary to this, the block option will notify the person who got blocked and cease all forms of communication.

In the case of Ignore, it will work like nothing happened at all.

Basically this option will simply hide their profile and messages, along with muting Discord notifications and activities while still allowing people to message users normally.

The feature will be very useful in situations where someone is constantly being harassed by someone, however, there are a lot of caveats.

When it comes to the Discord app it is free and people can quickly make alternate accounts.

But, general advice here is to go for blocking inappropriate messages and further report them.

In general, the Ignore feature in Discord is a handy tool but during gaming sessions, it may not come as handy.

For gamers it won’t affect much as most people have automatic notifications mute while playing a video game.

You can simply activate it in the System Notification if it isn’t already and is already doing its job very well.
