Shah Rukh Khan, often referred to as the “King of Bollywood,” was named the highest taxpayer among Indian celebrities in the fiscal year 2024. With a staggering tax payment of Rs 92 crore, SRK leads the list by a considerable margin, further solidifying his position as one of the country’s top earners. His wealth, estimated at Rs 7,300 crore according to the Hurun India Rich List, comes from multiple ventures including his production house Red Chillies Entertainment and the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Other Top Celebrities on the List
Following closely behind Shah Rukh is Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, who paid Rs 80 crore in taxes. Salman Khan, another Bollywood heavyweight, paid Rs 75 crore. Amitabh Bachchan, an enduring icon in Indian cinema, contributed Rs 71 crore in taxes. Other Bollywood stars like Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, and Hrithik Roshan also made significant contributions, along with television comedian Kapil Sharma and actors Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor.
Cricketers Also Make the List
Apart from film stars, Indian cricketers also featured prominently on the list of top taxpayers. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli paid Rs 66 crore, making him the highest taxpayer among cricketers. MS Dhoni followed with a tax payment of Rs 38 crore, while cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly paid Rs 28 crore and Rs 23 crore, respectively.
