The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has listed the names of the top car brands in the country in terms of sales figures for the month of March 2023.

According to their data, Tata Motors has finally overtaken Hyundai to occupy the second spot.

Here’s how 7 of the biggest automakers fared.

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd remains at the pole position in the Indian automotive industry, having sold 1,37,201 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023.

This is a year-on-year increase of 15.83 percent, with a jump in total sales by 18,755 units.

In the same period last year, Maruti Suzuki had sold 1,18,446 units of passenger vehicles.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors has been hard at work working on improving their lineup and the results speak for themselves.

It has overtaken Hyundai to take the second spot in the sales chart for March 2023.

It sold 46,847 units in March 2023, which is an increase of 9,908 units. 

This reflects a growth of 26.82 percent from the same period last year when the company sold 36,939 units.

Hyundai

Trailing behind Tata Motors is Hyundai Motor India Ltd.

It is now at the 3rd spot, having sold 45,703 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023.

This is an increase of 1,937 units from March 2022, translating to a  4.42 percent year-on-year increase. 

Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd comes in at 4th spot.

It sold 32,196 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023, marking a 34.07 percent year-on-year increase.

It saw a total increase in sales of 8,182 units.

In the same period last year, the company had sold 24,014 units of passenger vehicles.

Kia

Kia Motors India Pvt Ltd sold 21,023 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023, taking up the 5th spot.

This is a year-on-year increase of 20.64 percent or 3,597 units.

In the same period last year the company sold 17,426 units.

Toyota

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd sold 15,623 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023, coming in at 6th.

This is a year-on-year growth of 39.55 percent or 4,428 units, as compared to March 2022 when the company sold 11,195 units.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group

Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group sold 7,977 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.21 percent or by 607 units.

This helped take it to the 7th spot on the table.

In March 2022 the company had sold 7,390 units.
