All the major Indian telecom players which includes the likes of Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have announced impost hikes for both prepaid and postpaid plans, that to in a span of a couple of hours.

The new plans are priced up to more than 25% than the previous one and shall come to effect soon. Different packages are being offered by these 3 telcos and are meant for different users, which include monthly, quarterly, and annual recharge plans, just like the earlier plans.

Just like earlier, most of the plans include unlimited calling with the data cap being the major differentiator.

Below are the most affordable value prepaid plans from Airtel, Jio and Vi:

Jio Rs 199 prepaid plan

The most affordable monthly recharge by Jio costs Rs 199 with 28 days of validity, which is a high increase from previous Rs 155. This plan comes with unlimited calling, 300 SMS, and 2 GB of 4G data for the entire time. This plan is ideally suited for those who have a high-speed broadband connection and don’t use much mobile data.

Airtel Rs 199 prepaid plan

With the price increase of its Rs 179 to Rs 199, Airtel too has jumped the wagon or you can say Airtel is the actual one who led it.

The benefits of the pack remain similar, with unlimited calling, 2 GB of 4G data for the whole period, with greater SMS benefits of 100 per day. This plan is great for those who want to use the SIM card for just calls and messaging.

Vi Rs 199 prepaid plan

The most affordable monthly recharge plan by Vi also costs Rs 199, and the benefits are identical to Jio’s, with 2 GB of data for 28 days, unlimited calling, and 300 messages.

Please refer below table to see details in the tabular format for all basic plans for all major Indian telcos:

Telecom ProviderPlan Cost (Rs)Validity (Days)Data (GB)CallingSMSEffective Date
Jio199282Unlimited300July 3
Airtel199282Unlimited100/dayJuly 3
Vi199282Unlimited300July 4

So, what can be concluded based on just numbers is that no matter which operator, users shall have to spend at least Rs 199 to keep their phone number active to receive and make calls.

The same earlier could be achieved with Rs 155 for Jio or Rs 179 for Airtel for identical benefits.

For Airtel and Jio users, these new plans will come into effect from July 3, while the same will be applicable for Vi users starting July 4.
