Can you fathom someone asking Swiggy Instamart to deliver things like petrol and underwear? Well, neither can we. But it is what it is, lately, people have been searching for weird things on the Instamart.

Swiggy Users Are Searching 'Petrol', 'Underwear', 'Mommy' On Instamart: Check Weird Searches By Swiggy Users!

With petrol and underwear raking in thousands of queries, Swiggy’s grocery delivery service saw its fair share of weird searches this year and the same was revealed by the platform in its annual trends report released Friday.

Swiggy Instamart is Swiggy’s app’s express grocery delivery business. Launched in 2022, this service delivered more than 5 crore orders in three cities alone in 2022.

Notably, a customer in Bengaluru ordered groceries and essentials worth Rs 16.6 lakh – the most by a single user.

Strange Searches on Instamart Include “Petrol” & “Undergarments”

It was revealed in the seventh edition of Swiggy’s annual trends report, what all was searched by customers in the platform for delivery, and yes there have been some strange things that don’t fall under groceries. 

For starters, petrol, was searched 5,981 times on Swiggy Instamart. Next came underwear, which saw 8,810 searches.

Another popular query, was Furniture. With sofa and bed having 20,653 and 23,432 searches respectively.

“Mommy” Causes Confusion 

Till this, it was digestible, even if not palpable. But what really caused even the delivery business to raise an eyebrow was, the word “mommy”.

The word “mommy” was searched for 7,275 times in 2022, Swiggy revealed in a tweet Friday, using a series of question marks to express their confusion.

The annual report also revealed that a Gurugram-based customer ordered groceries 1,542 times on Instamart.

Through Instamart, Swiggy made its quickest delivery in 1.03 minutes to a customer in Bengaluru, who was just 50 metres away.

The startup capital of India, Bengaluru, also topped in terms of ordering ice cube, leaving behind Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi put together. 

Swiggy also revealed that Indians ordered 3.6 crore packets of chips (or 3,62,10,084, to be exact), in 2022.
