At the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata Motors appeared with a host of upcoming offerings and future technologies as they were on display.
This event witnessed the Harrier and Sierra EV concept along with the Tata Altroz CNG and Punch CNG on display.
It appears that Tata Motors has announced the launch of yet another new car, After launching the Nexon EV Max Dark variant earlier on 17 April.
The launch is scheduled on 19th April 2023 and it will be Altroz CNG, and not the Punch CNG.
So it’s a confirmation that Tata Motors is going to launch Altroz CNG before Punch CNG.
Tata Altroz CNG Specifications
The new launch from Tata is offered with a dual-cylinder setup wherein CNG cylinders are positioned under the boot floor so as to optimize boot space.
New Altroz CNG will get two 30 liter CNG tanks instead of a massive 60 liter CNG tank.
In case of Petrol Altroz, it has a boot space of 345 liters.
At the same time, Altroz CNG boot space is likely to be more than 200 liters.
Similarly, the fuel tank capacity is at 37 liters for petrol and 60 liters for CNG.
For providing better safety, Tata Motors has also included thermal incident protection, leak detection feature and fire prevention equipment.
Further, the CNG Altroz will be powered by the same 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder engine.
In the case of a petrol engine, it offers 86 hp power and 113 Nm torque.
In case of a CNG mode, this engine will make 77 hp power at 6,000 rpm and 97 Nm torque at 3,500 rpm.
For the mileage, the engine is likely to deliver about 26km/kg.
The Altroz CNG is offered with features including LED DRLs, projector headlamps, electric sunroof, 7 inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate controls.
It will also come with height adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents and will ride on 16 inch dual tone alloy wheels.
For safety, Altroz will get 6 airbags among its many safety features.
Notably, single advanced ECU and direct start with CNG will be among its first in segment features.
Punch CNG Launch
Tata Punch CNG is most likely to launch in the coming months.
It will be offered with an electric sunroof, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and rear AC vents along with 16 inch dual tone alloy wheels similar to that seen on its regular petrol counterpart.
In addition to this the electric sunroof will also be added to the petrol versions.
Coming to pricing, the CNG variants of Tata Altroz and Punch will be priced at a premium of about Rs 1 lakh over its corresponding petrol counterparts.
Presently, the Tata Altroz petrol MT is priced from Rs 6.45-9.1 lakh while the Punch MT is priced from Rs 6.00-8.87 lakh.
After launch, Tata Altroz CNG will be competing with the likes of Maruti Baleno CNG.
