The OnePlus 11 was just released in February and now the rumors are already swirling about the possible arrival of the OnePlus 12.
There is talk of a OnePlus 12R, a toned-down variant of the OnePlus 12, in development, as per a recent report.
This latest launch from OnePlus is tipped to make its debut in China during December or possibly early January 2024.
Its global launch, including India, is expected to follow shortly after.
OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R Expected Specifications
Based on the leaks, the OnePlus 12R is expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
Notably, this is the same chipset that powers the OnePlus 11 5G.
The device is rumored to come with a substantial 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as it has also become a standard memory configuration for premium OnePlus smartphones.
But, in the battery department, it’s expected to feature a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging.
Again, a departure from the more common 4,500mAh battery found in many devices, albeit with faster charging times.
It is noteworthy here that the larger battery size may potentially add some extra weight and thickness to the phone.
For pictures, its rear camera module is anticipated to house a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
The OnePlus 12R 5G is reported to sport a 16-megapixel front camera for taking selfies.
When it comes to the standard OnePlus 12, it is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Continuing the OnePlus’s ongoing collaboration with Hasselblad for camera enhancements, it is likely to have the rear camera system comprising a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera.
It is rumored to have a 32-megapixel front camera in the mix.
As expected, both devices are poised to come with substantial batteries.
The OnePlus 12 reported to feature a 5,400mAh battery along with 100W wired charging and support for 50W wireless charging technology.
OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R Expected Pricing
So far, the details remain elusive for pricing.
Considering its earlier trend, OnePlus phones with the ‘R’ designation tend to be more budget-friendly than their regular-numbered counterparts.
It’s going to be intriguing to see how OnePlus positions and prices the OnePlus 12R.
Especially considering its similarities to the OnePlus 11, which is a more expensive device starting at Rs 56,999, and prices for the OnePlus 11R begins at Rs 39,999.
The smartphone maker may decide to price these phones in a similar price range or increase it by a few thousand rupees.
Whatever be the case, we will have to wait for a few months to get a clarity on this.
