Realme GT Neo 3 150W Review – Unleashing GT Performance, Camera Showdown with Realme 9 Pro+

Body:

Realme introduces the Dimensity 8100 series to the Indian market, and among the contenders stands the Realme GT Neo 3. In addition to the OnePlus 10R, this device promises a continuation of the GT legacy. As a successor to the GT Neo 2, a device loved by many, the GT Neo 3 has set expectations high. Join me, Ershad, on Trakin Tech English, as we embark on a comprehensive review of the GT Neo 3, complete with a camera comparison against the Realme 9 Pro+.

Battery: Speed and Efficiency Combined

The standout feature in the GT Neo 3 is the UltraDart 150W fast charging, a leap forward in charging technology. Realme claims a 50% charge in 5 minutes, and in our testing, it achieved 50% in 8 minutes with the screen on. A full charge took 18 minutes, outpacing the competition. The battery boasts longevity, enduring 1600 cycles before degradation begins. Despite a 4500mAh battery, the Dimensity 8100 exhibits remarkable power efficiency, delivering around 5 hours of screen-on time and a full day under normal usage.

Performance: Dominance of Dimensity 8100

Following our positive experience with the Dimensity 8100 in the Redmi K50, the GT Neo 3 raises the bar further. AnTuTu and Geekbench scores surpass expectations, showcasing superior performance. Throttle stability scores and 3DMark Wild Life Stress Test reveal a penchant for high performance. The GT Neo 3 prioritizes power, leveraging UFS 3.1 storage for swift read/write speeds. However, the Dimensity 8100 faces optimization challenges with games like BGMI and COD, offering max frame rates only at high graphics settings.

Camera: Tuning and Comparison

Equipped with a camera setup similar to the Realme 9 Pro+, the GT Neo 3 takes a different approach due to distinct ISPs. Detail retention remains consistent, but dynamic range performances differ. The GT Neo 3 excels in handling highlights, while the Realme 9 Pro+ retrieves more details from shadows. Color reproduction algorithms on both devices show room for improvement, with the GT Neo 3 exhibiting a more balanced rendition.

Portrait and low light photography showcase the GT Neo 3’s prowess, capturing subjects with a sense of richness akin to premium devices. The low light performance, attributed to the IMX 766 sensor, demonstrates superior noise control and color accuracy. However, video recording capabilities, especially in 4K 60fps, lack EIS, impacting stabilization. The GT Neo 3 shines in 1080p 60fps recording, offering focused video quality.

Design: Flashy and Sturdy

Realme’s GT Neo series embraces a bold Color Material Finish (CMF) design, featuring racing stripes through the camera module. The glass sandwich with a polycarbonate frame and distinctive design elements may not appeal to everyone. The phone feels sturdy, weighing 188g, and houses a stereo speaker setup for immersive audio.

Display: Vivid and Smooth

The GT Neo 3 boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution, offering crisp visuals with good color accuracy. HDR10 support enhances the cinematic experience, although limited to YouTube for HDR playback. The 120Hz refresh rate and Motion Interpolation in supported games contribute to smooth interactions. An in-display fingerprint scanner, though placed low, offers fast unlocking, complemented by impressive haptic feedback.

Software: Feature-Rich but Laden with Bloatware

Running on Android 12 with Realme UI 3.0, the GT Neo 3 promises two years of software updates and three years of security updates. The software experience, while feature-rich, is marred by unnecessary bloatware apps. Cleaning up post-setup is essential for a premium experience. Realme UI consistency across budget and premium phones raises questions about the differentiation between the two.

Conclusion: Performance Powerhouse with a Camera Caveat

In essence, the GT Neo 3 emerges as a performance-centric device featuring the formidable Dimensity 8100. The blend of power and efficiency positions it as a compelling option, especially with the unprecedented 150W charging. However, camera enthusiasts may find room for improvement, as the GT Neo 3, despite its prowess, faces stiff competition in its price range. The distinction between the 80W and 150W variants prompts thoughtful consideration, as faster charging may come at the expense of battery life.
