Singapore is preparing to welcome more than 1.5 million Indian tourists in 2024, focusing on bolstering hospitality infrastructure and simplifying visa procedures, according to a senior tourism official. Before the pandemic, Indian tourism to Singapore peaked at 1.4 million visitors in 2019, and despite challenges, rebounded to 1.1 million in 2023, showcasing a resilient recovery.
Optimistic Outlook for Indian Tourism
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) anticipates surpassing pre-pandemic figures in 2024, without setting a specific target, relying on the Indian market’s potential. The STB aims to exceed 1.5 million visitors, actively streamlining visa processes for Indian tourists. With offices in Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai, the STB ensures a hassle-free experience for travelers.
Enhancing Infrastructure for Tourism Growth
Singapore is keen not only on leisure tourism but also recognizes the importance of catering to business travelers amid growing trade ties and India’s flourishing economy. The nation plans to add 9,000 new hotel rooms to its current inventory of 72,000, aiming to accommodate the rising number of tourists and business visitors. With these initiatives, Singapore seeks to solidify its status as a top destination for Indian travelers, fostering cultural exchange and economic collaboration.
