Samsung Trifold Phone Can Launch In 2025; Cheaper Z Fold Not In The Works!

No Plans for Cheaper Galaxy Z Fold

Samsung has clarified its stance on introducing a budget version of the Galaxy Z Fold lineup. Instead, the company aims to appeal to premium customers through products like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, offering tailored experiences over affordability.

A Tri-Fold Galaxy Phone in the Works

Samsung’s potential tri-fold device could be the next big thing in the foldable market. Key details include:

  • Innovative Design: The phone features a screen that folds twice, maximizing portability and screen real estate.
  • Progress in Development: According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung Display’s suppliers have already prepared components for commercialization.
  • Patented Technology: Samsung demonstrated a tri-fold prototype at CES 2022, showcasing its commitment to the concept.

The final green light for the device lies with Samsung Electronics’ mobile division, which may unveil this ambitious product in 2025.

Addressing Foldable Phone Sales Challenges

The launch of a tri-fold phone could also counteract declining sales for Samsung’s current foldables, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Samsung Display faces lower demand for its OLED panels, with combined foldable sales expected to drop 10% year-over-year. However, the company remains optimistic, projecting shipments of over 10 million units in 2025, up from this year’s 5 million.
