With the Samsung contract, an estimated $3 billion in yearly earnings was on the line. An agreement with Apple of a similar nature that is up for renewal this year is linked to an additional $20 billion.

The Samsung challenge constituted the first possible fissure in Google’s $162 billion search industry, which had previously been impervious.

The Threat to Google By AI

Additionally, internal documents that indicate it is also adding AI elements to the current one.

Designers, engineers, and executives working together in so-called sprint rooms to fine-tune and test the most recent versions are developing the new features under the project name Magi.

By aiming to foresee users’ requirements, the new search engine would provide consumers with a much more personalized experience than the company’s existing offering.

As per a statement by Lara Levin, a Google spokesperson, “not every brainstorm deck or product idea leads to a launch, but as we’ve said before, we’re excited about bringing new AI-powered features to search, and will share more details soon.”

One of the most popular websites in the world, Google’s search engine is used by billions of people every day for anything from locating restaurants and directions to comprehending a medical diagnosis.

Google Concerned About AI Tools Like ChatGPT

The firm’s simple white page with an empty bar in the middle and the corporate logo is one of the most frequently visited websites in the world. It has been difficult to foresee anything threatening it up until lately because any changes would have a substantial impact on the lives of regular people.

Since November, when OpenAI, a San Francisco firm collaborating with Microsoft, showed off a chatbot named ChatGPT, Google has been concerned about AI-powered rivals. A task force was established by Google in its search division to begin developing AI products about two weeks later.
