Samsung has launched the Ultra models in its Galaxy S lineup sporting four rear cameras, two of which are telephoto units – a 3x telephoto joined by a 10x periscope telephoto unit since 2021.
As per the reliable tipster Ice universe, that could change next year with the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
No 3x telephoto for Galaxy S24 Ultra
The tipster said that the Galaxy S24 Ultra shall not have the 3x telephoto, and rather have “merged” it into the periscope telephoto. While Ice universe doesn’t get any more specific than that, another tipster claims Samsung dropped the 3x telephoto unit from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and added a variable folded telephoto with 3x to 10x zoom.
Last December, Ice universe said Samsung would replace the telephoto sensor from the Galaxy S24 Ultra seen on previous models and “adopt a new solution.” Well, this 3-10x variable folded telephoto could be that new solution.
It is to be taken with a pinch of salt only, despite it coming from multiple sources.
Let’s wait a bit more for more evidence to be sure of Samsung removing the 3x telephoto camera from the Galaxy S24 Ultra since we are more than six months from its unveiling and plans could always change.
