Galaxy SmartTag 2 Launch
On Thursday, Samsung debuted the second generation of Galaxy SmartTag.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 will come as a successor to the previously launched Galaxy SmartTag in January 2021 during the Galaxy Unpacked event.
The SmartTag 2 is already scheduled to go global next week on October 11 further rivaling Apple AirTag.
In SmartTag 2, Samsung is introducing a Lost Mode that allows users to input contact information via a message.
It can be used when someone finds an item with a SmartTag 2 attached.
They can scan the tag with their smartphone to see the owner’s message and contact details.
Basically, this feature is designed to help reunite lost items with their owners.

Besides this, the latest SmartTag 2 offers an improved Compass View feature, providing directional arrows to guide users to the SmartTags location.
Samsung has updated the SmartThings Find app, in order to include the shortcuts for newly registered SmartTags, making it easier for users to locate their items.
For the unawares, the app now features a full-screen map view and an intuitive interface.
In this latest launch, battery life has also been extended as with the SmartTag 2 battery lasting up to 700 days in Power Saving Mode and 500 days in Normal Mode.
When it comes to the design and aesthetics, the device’s compact size and ring-shaped design make it easy to attach to various items.
This device has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
Notably, the SmartTag 2 also retains the popular features from previous models such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB capabilities.
Coming to technology, the device leverages Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology to guide users visually to their lost items using their Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera.
The device is offered with a maximum Bluetooth range of 120 meters and can control smart home appliances through the SmartThings app.
Apart from these features, the SmartTag 2 supports a new pet walking mode for logging walks with pets.
