Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch its first tri-fold smartphone, possibly named the Galaxy G Fold, later this year. According to leaks, the standout feature of this device is a next-generation silicon-carbon battery that offers higher energy density, allowing for slimmer designs without compromising battery performance. While the battery capacity might be under 5,000mAh to maintain portability, its efficiency is expected to rival larger lithium-ion counterparts. This innovation may extend to upcoming models like the Galaxy S26, suggesting a broader adoption of the technology across Samsung’s lineup.

The Galaxy G Fold is said to feature a G-shaped folding design with two inward folds, protecting its large internal display when closed. When fully unfolded, the main screen could measure around 9.96 inches, expanding from a 6.49-inch cover display, making it one of the largest foldable phones to date—bordering on tablet size.

Design elements will reportedly draw inspiration from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including refined hinges and speaker modules, though the tri-fold’s dual-fold mechanism will necessitate a new hinge design for smooth and durable unfolding.
